Carmen and Carlos picking out our fish |

From this bucket |
Sunday dinner in nearby San Miguel de Yahuaracocha at a lakeside restaurant that bakes the tilapia in a wood fired oven. About 30 minutes drive from Otavalo. Friends, Susanna and Juan joined Carlos, Carmen, Grazia and I for the drive and dinner. The fish in the bucket below were waiting to be tossed in the oven and served with boiled potatoes. First came a roast corn that I love and fresh fried empanadas stuffed with cheese or platano.

I must say, I´m just learning how to get photos onto this blog at an internet cafe! And not taking many photos so my apòlogies to Juan for the poor photo, as he and Susanna are so beautiful!

After dinner we walked a little, passing by vendors with fresh cut sugar cane, guavas, coconut water and more. Then Carmen decided we should ride in the little cars in the photo below so we went along the lake for quite a distance with the driver whipping the cars back and forth, driving fast in a circle while all of us screamed. And cars, busses and motorcycles passed by. Long lakeside park with lots of things for kids to play on, very clean.

The surroundings in Yahuaracocha |
OK the next post will be from Phyllis or Helen and I´ll keep practicing uploading photos. And using a sticky unfamiliar keyboard.
I spent the morning chopping vegetables for soup while listening to cumbia. The sun is out. A fine day indeed.
Sara
Sara....I have enjoyed your postings for the first week. Sounds like you are eating well and getting lots of walking in. Looking forward to finding out how the jungle trip went. It's been in the 30's and 40's F here in Moldova. Are you having turkey this Thursday?
